Midnight Snack 004: Connected web
Our newsletter aims to shed light, add some explanation, and hopefully a bit of inspiration around certain technology trends and how they might impact the creative industry.
We’ve been doing quite a bit of work in the connected packaging space over the last couple of years.
Technologies like QR codes or NFC/RFID tags offer a smart way to connect the physical world with the digital. Being able to seamlessly move a user from a product in their hands to a web experience, or from a physical experience into the digital world opens up a range of possibilities for brand building or commerce.
These technologies enable a physical object to communicate information to another object, or to the internet – most simply, they are encoded urls that when scanned or tapped take the user to a web page. They are now used widely in a variety of industries, but in a creative sense they can be used to connect a specific product or object, to a specific place on the web.
This allows novel experiences like diving into an AR experience, but also a way to deliver a product-specific web experience, extend the brand journey online, offer a jump off into the web3 space, serve up location or time specific experiences, or add a digital ID to an item.
We’ve worked on projects for clothing brands showing the provenance around a product, beauty brands taking the user to location-specific content, art exhibitions with tags to show the extended information and media, and fashion companies enabling users to claim product-related NFTs.
If you have a project with an opportunity to connect a physical product with a web experience, reach out for a chat! 👋

What have we been up to!
It’s been a while since the last newsletter as the writer welcomed a new baby 🐣🫠. During spring we worked alongside the team at Something More Near for a brand and strategy refresh for an inspiring VC, Horizons Ventures who emphasise disruption, science, and data to invest in technologies solving big future challenges. We’re applying finishing touches to a website for an architecture firm, a flexible and dynamic website for an arts university, and a digital installation for a commercial property 🏗. And we got the keys to a shiny new office in London Fields, and now planning the interior with Studio Jey. Anyone in the area up for a coffee and chat let us know! ☕️
